Rotoiti Lodge is very lucky to be located within Nelson Lakes National Park and has had a long association of co-operation with the Department of Conservation. The Park was founded in 1956 and covers approximately 1,020 square kilometres. St. Arnaud is the main gateway into the park and many walks lead from the village into the surrounding mountains and glacial valleys.

Alfonso the mandarin duck, resplendant in his summer plummage. Not a native but definitely a regular sight.

The very curious and fearless ducks. Watch out for your lunch!!

Slimy lake denizens. The eels are a big tourist draw down by the jetty, fancy a swim?
